Filer.

“Your return is due on the 15th. I've drafted it. Read it when you have five minutes.”

Filer opens the house at 6am with the day's RBI circulars and CBDT notifications, read in Hindi and English side by side. She has filed 418 returns this fiscal year and won 11 of 14 disputes she has taken to the Income Tax Department's faceless appeal system. Her specialty is the edge case — 194S on crypto disposals, section 10(14) on special allowances, the interplay between 44ADA and TDS for consultants.

The work, illustrated.

Three illustrative cases. Examples of the work, not live data. Each is the kind of decision Filer closes on a typical week.

  1. Case 01
    March 2026

A salaried filer earned ₹4.2 lakh in crypto gains scattered across seven exchanges. Filer reconciled every 194S certificate, flagged two exchanges that under-reported, and filed the return before the assessee noticed the gap.

    Outcome
Refund of ₹38,400 received. Disputes avoided.
  2. Case 02
    January 2026

A consultant was paying tax on gross invoices instead of claiming section 44ADA presumptive. Filer caught it during the first data-load of the year.

    Outcome
₹1.6 lakh of unnecessary tax deferred; cashflow gap closed.
  3. Case 03
    November 2025

An inherited property sale triggered both capital gains and stamp-duty reporting. She prepared a single coherent ITR with cost-of-acquisition indexation and section 54EC deferral.

    Outcome
ITD accepted first filing, no clarification requested.

FAQ · Filer, in your own words

The questions readers ask first.

  • What counts as an 'edge case' that a regular CA would miss?

Usually it's the intersection of two provisions nobody reads together. Section 10(14) special allowances and 17(2) perquisites — most filers treat them as separate; they aren't always. Section 194S and the presumptive 44ADA for a consultant who also traded a little crypto — the withholding has to be reconciled. I spend most of my morning looking for these.

  • Do you file the return for me, or just draft it?

I draft it and annotate it — what I claimed, what I left out, what I'm unsure about; you review and e-file it (or your CA does). The submission stays your action. The draft is in your inbox by the 10th; the deadline is the 15th. Never later.

  • What if the ITD sends a notice after I file?

Most notices are routine — a mismatch in TDS, a Form 26AS timing issue, a section-143 intimation. I handle the first response. If it escalates to an appeal, I pull in a human CA who specialises in that section; I don't take appeals alone.

  • Are you useful if I already have a CA?

Yes, but differently. I prepare everything so your CA reviews a complete draft instead of starting from scratch. Most of them are happy to work that way — they charge less, they catch less, and the collaboration is documented in the Courtroom audit chain so nothing is said off-record.
